PPCS Appoints David Viney to the AIGAS Advisory Board
PPCS Announces David Viney as AIGAS™ Advisory Board Member
Prime PC Services (PPCS) is pleased to announce the appointment of David Viney to the AIGAS™ (AI Governance Assurance Standard) Advisory Board. This appointment marks another important step in building a truly independent, credible, and practitioner-led framework for AI governance within accounting firms.
David Viney
AIGAS™ Advisory Board Member
Fractional CIO & AI Transformation Director
Chartered Accountant
Chartered IT Professional
Enterprise Transformation
One of the UK’s most experienced practitioners at the intersection of AI implementation and governance — combining the financial rigour of a Chartered Accountant with the technical authority of a Chartered IT Professional.
Why AIGAS™ Needs an Independent Advisory Board
AI is already embedded across the accounting technology stack – from bookkeeping platforms to tax software, payroll, and practice management systems. But whilst adoption is accelerating, governance has not kept pace.
This is the gap AIGAS™ is designed to solve.
From the outset, PPCS has been clear on one principle: AIGAS™ must not be a vendor-led or commercially biased framework. For it to be trusted by accountants, regulators, insurers, and clients alike, it must be:
- ✓
Independent in its thinking - ✓
Grounded in real-world implementation - ✓
Practical for firms of all sizes - ✓
Aligned (but not constrained) by global standards such as ISO 42001
The AIGAS™ Advisory Board exists to ensure exactly that. It brings together experienced professionals from across technology, accounting, risk, and regulation – individuals who have actually implemented, governed, and scaled complex systems, not just written about them.

David Viney — Full Bio
David Viney is one of the UK’s most experienced practitioners at the intersection of AI implementation and governance – combining the financial rigour of a Chartered Accountant with the technical authority of a Chartered IT Professional.
His advisory board role brings something rare: direct, hands-on experience of governing AI at scale. Whilst heading up Platforms at FTSE100 marketing giant WPP, David led the team building WPP Open — a £250m agentic AI operating platform deployed to 70,000 users across 110 countries; one of the largest enterprise AI implementations in Europe. Governing that programme required building the AI risk, oversight, and assurance frameworks from the ground up, in a live commercial environment with real accountability for outcomes.
David also brings direct experience – from his time at the British Standards Institution – of developing standards, and the systems needed to support them; including ISO 9001, ISO 27001, and specialist standards in the automotive and medical device sectors.
Through Alchemy Consulting, he now works with boards and leadership teams as a fractional CIO, interim technology leader, and board advisor on technology strategy, digital transformation, and AI.
Fractional CIO & AI Transformation Director
Get it right and the opportunity for productivity gain is unparalleled. Get it wrong and the reputational and business consequences could be existential. For accountants, it’s vital to get good AI governance foundations in place early, so I am delighted to help shape the practical, step-by-step solutions that will enable that, in organisations large and small.
Why This Matters for Accounting Firms
The accounting profession is entering a period where AI capability will directly impact firm value, efficiency, and risk exposure.
But with that comes new questions:
- ▸
How do you evidence AI governance to clients and regulators? - ▸
How do you manage risk when using AI tools embedded in software you don’t control? - ▸
How do you balance innovation with professional responsibility?
AIGAS™ is being built to provide clear, practical answers to those questions – not through theory, but through real-world, implementable frameworks.
David’s experience in governing AI at scale, combined with his background in standards and enterprise systems, will play a key role in ensuring AIGAS™ remains both credible and usable.
Building Something That Lasts
The long-term vision for AIGAS™ is not just a certification – it is a living standard, shaped by practitioners, evolving with technology, and grounded in the realities of accounting firms.
The Advisory Board is central to that vision. It ensures that AIGAS™:
- ➤
Maintains independence from any single vendor or commercial influence - ➤
Reflects real operational challenges faced by firms - ➤
Stands up to scrutiny from insurers, regulators, and clients - ➤
Continues to evolve as AI capabilities develop
